Nectar in a Sieve

Nectar in a Sieve is a pretty odd book… It starts out with everybody being happy, sort of… Well not happy  but surviving.  then everything bad that could possible happen happens to them.  It doesn’t exactly seem fair.  It’s nice that Rukmani doesn’t complain or anything in front of Nathan at the beginning.  It’s really sweet.  But karma doesn’t really work for them…. Karma HATES them!!!  Everything bad happens.  Then Ira becomes a prostitute, her son moves away… poor Rukmani and Nathan…. Life really sucks for them… And it doesn’t exactly improve at the end.  It’s sort of bittersweet…. DUMB!!!!!!

My Blog SELF-EVALUATION…. ooo

:::my best entry was:::

“courtroom dramas”  because I really like that one.  it was fun to write… and I sort of just vented.

:::My least favorite entry was:::

“The Stranger Songs” because some of them didn’t even have to do with the Stranger.

:::The blog i thought was most effective is:::

laura l.’s blog.  It’s just amazing.  have you seen her photostory???

:::What I learned from my blogs and reading other’s blogs:::

Is that there is more than one (or even five) ways to look at the exact same quote, book, or picture… =]]

Courtroom dramas

At Meursault’s hearing, everything gets thrown into chaos.  It’s crazy that Meursault’s lawyer tries to essentially MAKE UP a story about why Meursault might have killed The Arab.  But there really is no reason.

Meursault says it was “because of the sun.”

So can justice really ever be served in this case?  I’ve never really understood the whole courtroom thing and prison.  I used to wonder why they couldn’t just tell right away, because people are sworn in and have promised to TELL THE TRUTH.  But that’s not really how it works.  I just think that people are crazy.

But anyways, Meursault didn’t really have any substantial justification to kill the Arab, but at the same time, the court doesn’t have any “substantial justification” to sentence Meursault to death by the guillotine.  Scarrryy….

It just really makes you wonder.

Plus, why did the judge bring in the whole mother death story.  Just because he didn’t cry, he was still sort of dissappointed i guess that his mother died, right?  Albert Camus really makes you wonder about that sort of thing.  But even if he didn’t care, a lot of people hate their mothers.  Plus, if he couldn’t take care of her, it’s a good thing he didn’t try.

Why did the girl from the cafe come???????   jeez.

Magistrate VOKIIII! <3

This is the magistrate who puts Meursault into prison.  He implies that Meursault’s atheist beliefs are a threat to society.  Funnn.
Get a Voki now!

Meursault’s song…

This sort of goes along with the last post, but I thought that this song fit well.  Green Day, Boulevard of Broken Dreams…

I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don’t know where it goes
But it’s only me and I walk alone

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of broken dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I’m the only one and I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk a…

My shadows the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that’s beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I walk alone

Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh
Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh

I’m walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the border line of the edge
And where I walk alone
[ Lyrics accessible from http://www.rare-lyrics.com ]

Read between the lines
What’s f**ked up and everythings all right
Check my vital signs to know I’m still alive
And I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk a…

My shadows the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that’s beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I walk alone

Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh
Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of broken dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I’m the only one and I walk a..

My shadows the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that’s beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I walk alone.

Walking alone

I’ve sort of been thinking that maybe Meursault is afraid to show his emotions.  This theory is not supported too much because of the first-person thing and still no emotion, but I’ve just been thinking that.  And this picture shows him walking alone trying to keep his feelings from being shown to anybody.  Sad?
